The TOPP E.
coli kit contains six wild E. coli strains, TOPP1, TOPP2,
TOPP3, TOPP4, TOPP5, and TOPP6. These strains may be useful
for expressing foreign proteins in E. coli. Occasionally,
recombinant proteins expressed in standard K12 strains,
such as BL21 produce poor yields. There are reports in
the literature that a TOPP strain is capable of producing
a good yield in situations in which K12 strains were not
successful. The six strains are supplied as stabs, which
can ship at ambient temperature.
This product is experimental in nature and there is no
guarantee that a particular protein will be expressed
in good yield in any of these strains. This product was
